The Cadder Singers
Following Elspeth's surprise announcement at our concert in March, that the Music Club would no longer be meeting, the members all felt rather stunned and shocked. They knew that they would miss the camaraderie and fellowship that the Music Club had provided for many years, along with all the musical fun and laughter.
As a result, we all got together at the beginning of September and decided that we would continue meeting weekly, have a bit of a sing song, a chat over tea and coffee and share poems and stories.
We have renamed ourselves "The Cadder Singers" and would welcome anyone who would like to join us. There is no pressure to come every week and if we do get round to putting on a small performance then there is no obligation to take part.
We sing to karaoke backing tracks or indeed to actual recordings of songs we have known and loved.
We asked people to come and join us for an evening before Christmas to sing Christmas Songs and Carols. About 70 turned up that night and had a great time. They even got a cup of coffee and a mince pie for their efforts, courtesy of the Girls' Brigade.
We can't possibly replace or replicate everything that Elspeth has done in the past but we do know how to have a good time. One of her favourite quotes has always been: "God made the crows as well as the nightingales!" Everyone is welcome to join us at any time, we'd love to see you. Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm in the North Hall.
