Cadder 200

2025 is a special year in the history of Cadder Church as we mark the bicentenary of the present building, which came into use in 1825.

A small 'Cadder 200' group has been formed, tasked with organising special events to mark this significant milestone, details of which can be found below and on the 'What's On' calendar.

Upcoming Cadder Bicentenary Events

Tuesday 12th August: 7 p.m. - Special Bicentenary Service

This will be held in the church, and in attendance will be the new Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, Rt. Rev. Rosemary Frew. Our recent ministers, John MacGregor and Graham Finch, also hope to attend, and invitations have gone out to a number of our former students who did their placements at Cadder.

Sunday 17th August: 2.30 p.m. - Canal Cruise

We have chartered one of the Forth and Clyde Canal Society's boats and hope to cruise from Cadder Wharf to Kirkintilloch. This will be a ticketed event. Details are still being finalised and more information will be given

through the weekly intimations and emails.

Wednesday 27th August: 7 p.m. - Desert Island Discs

There will be several participants, rather than just the one as in the radio show. The idea being that they will each give their reasons for being connected to Cadder Church, whether it is a long-term dedication or just a

last-minute/accidental connection. They will each also share with us their favourite piece of music, be it a hymn or otherwise...and tell us why it is special to them. This will be a fun evening for everyone, when we might learn something new about the people in our congregation.

So, there's lots to look forward to, and much more to come as we mark this special year in the history of Cadder Church.

‘’Those who worship at Cadder each Sunday are rightly proud of their church building; great love and care goes into its upkeep.

But there is also another aspect to the building and that is its spiritual dimension.

The site has been soaked in worship and prayer for the best part of 900 years and it is still the cradle that holds our worship together.’’

Rev. John McGregor, recently retired minister of Cadder Church
