Cadder 200
2025 is a special year in the history of Cadder Church as we mark the bicentenary of the present building, which came into use in 1825.
A small 'Cadder 200' group has been formed, tasked with organising special events to mark this significant milestone, details of which can be found below and on the 'What's On' calendar.

Past Events
Special Bicentenary Service - Tuesday 12th August
Cadder's Bicentenary Service was held in the church, and in attendance was the new Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, Rt. Rev. Rosemary Frew. Our recent ministers, John MacGregor and Graham Finch, also attended, as did Alistair, Julie, Iain, Rona, Chris, Neil, Adaeze, Ben and Will, some of our former students who did their placements at Cadder.
Also in attendance was George Mackay, Moderator of Glasgow Presbytery. The service was led by the Interim Moderator, Rhona McDonald and was extremely well attended - as you'll hear from the singing!
After the service tea, coffee, cakes and a special celebratory cake were served in a packed North Hall.

Sunday 17th August - Canal Trip
Our canal trip was a huge success (see photos in gallery). It was a beautiful afternoon as we all boarded The Voyager for a 2-hour trip towards Maryhill, and the boat crew was very welcoming and helpful.
Tables were set with plenty of nibbles, crisps etc, and as we set sail, drinks were served to everyone. Margaret Burniston had really done us proud. Later on we were offered more of our Cadder 200 celebration cake.
We were able to get outside, both front and back of the boat, and on such a beautiful day it was perfect for viewing the scenery.
The time passed far too quickly with lots of chat from everyone.
Wednesday 27th August: 7 p.m. - Desert Island Discs
This was an interesting evening finding out why people enjoy coming to Cadder Church and what brought them here.
Dianne Kurth was our Roy Plomley and she did a wonderful job of leading the guests into telling us about their journeys. Dianne's guests were Julia Malloch, Billy Gilchrist, Robert Andrews, Laura Tobin, Hilda Morrison, Martin Forrest and Tracy Gibson. They had each chosen a special piece of music and/or a hymn to share with us.
A lovely evening, enjoyed by all.

Sunday 26th October: 2 p.m. - Sing Along With Joseph
A good turnout for a good film and great songs to sing along with.

Cadder Kids Mosaic
Cadder Kids have produced a stunningly beautiful mosaic which features on the front cover of our autumn gazette, and is also on display in the church foyer. Our thanks to Cadder Kids for this magnificent piece of work!

Merchandise
Commemorative mugs and pens have been produced to mark our bicentenary. The mugs sold out quickly but we may order more if demand is there. Pens are priced £1 and can be bought from any member of the Cadder 200 team: Anne Budd, Margaret Burniston, Janet Johnstone, Sandie Raynes, and Gary Pews. They can also be bought at the Cadder Shop in the South Hall.
‘’Those who worship at Cadder each Sunday are rightly proud of their church building; great love and care goes into its upkeep.
But there is also another aspect to the building and that is its spiritual dimension.
The site has been soaked in worship and prayer for the best part of 900 years and it is still the cradle that holds our worship together.’’
Rev. John McGregor, recently retired minister of Cadder Church
